Establishing a base tune on a basketcase

Unread postby motorhead1991 » Sat Jan 26, 2019 2:30 pm

I came across a guy on Facebook that bought a basketcase of a turbo swap, in which someone installed SVO low-Z injectors on the Ranger computer and used the Ranger MAF in drawthrough.

He also says he has a Mustang MAF and housing, as well as some Bosch 0-280-150-945 injectors. I believe these are from a Supercoupe, but would like confirmation. Research suggests these injectors ae 28lb, and not 30 (Pretty negligible difference IMO, but playing it safe.)

As for the MAF, he says it's calibrated for 30lb injectors, but we all know that's useless info with the ability to tune . What I do need to know is if this unit is the same one on the reference chart.

yep those red tops are the supercoupe stock injectors 89-93 cars and are 30lb

it being calibrated for 30s is the flow curve, knowing its application will tell u which curve is correct

Alright, cool. Waiting for the owner to pick up a Quarterhorse then.

Update:

Truck is running really good, especially after the owner replaced the thermostat and added a larger PCV line. One issue we're still fighting is that it dies on decel, and I think it was a function I changed to try and make DFSO react faster. The other issue is that his Pro-M MAF isn't playing nice, and as far as I can tell is causing the decel fueling issue (the root of the symptoms so to speak).

does it lean out on decel?

the stock 30lb supercoupe injectors used the exact same offset as the stock 19s in the doxbodies. I find it hard to believe they were identical so i would suspect your offsets may need to be dialed in if you sucked out the stock injector data.

The stock injectors in the Ranger are 14lb, not the 5.0's 19.

Quite the opposite actually, it stays loaded and pig rich. This behavior is less common on the Ranger MAF than the Pro-M, and I think it mostly has to do with backflow.

i wasn't insinuating they were i was assuming u sucked out the 30lb data from a stock supercoupe tune if u did im sure the offsets are incorrect

i would go cut the offsets back and dial it back in
