im working reading/writing a step guide .


only problem is i cant download "00 gt 5 spd" tune(LCHA_171130A.ZIP) and cant download DNL0_256K.ZIP

test car is a mustang 99 gt 5spd
hardware code is MLC-462A
strategy CVAF1
code JRX0

00 GT 5spd may be different

verify the edf_pin_loc dwfhp and invrt scalars for the fan hardware control

make sure the ac_rly_is_nc is the same as well

otherwise 99-01 GT is identical

good afternoon.
i have some questions about this. what do edf_pin_loc? for function info, it appears to be ecm # output.

if ac_rly_is_nc is not configured properly, ac compressor will engage when ac is off and will not engage at ac on?

same question for "lsf_invrt_hp - invert fan output". will fan activate when cold and non active when hot?

when tuning spark, i will need to see "spk_source" at log to be able to know where is timing advance from, right? SAFTOT tells final timing.

base tune use NOMINAL_AFR(stoich_AFR) at 14.10 because its mixed with alcohol. if i will use 100% gasoline 14.10 will be swaped to 14.64,right?

in a manual car, IS THIS FUNCTIONAL?:

WOTSHIFT 3-4 Ne34S

About 2 step enable(auto trans). configuration is same to enable for manual transmision? i read caution advice too but dont know if only damage on automatic transmisions.

test tune today. i dont know why safot jumps from 23 to 20. im searching in the guide.

spark sourse is number "2" borderline fn2200

pull was done in 3rd .

ect at 184 from start to end.
act from 130 at start to 108 to end.

safot bounces entirely run.

load is from 0.8x to 0.9x entire run.

looks good to me, it jumping around a touch is normal

looks like you have 23 degrees over 3k rpm, you should prob knock that down to 20 deg, I've never tuned a 2v thats ever wanted more than 20

from your experiencie, how much extra timing from MBT can handle this engine without knock? i didnt listen knock using my knock headset. i will look again maf volts from logs.

looking at MAFV from logs, i get max volts at:

2250 - 14°
3000 - 17°
4000 - 17°
5000 - 17°
5500 - 20°
6000 - 22°

why does it matter where it knocks at? If you have good fuel I would suspect about 34 degrees or so before it audibly knocks, although it will be significantly down on power well before that.

your spark listed there doesn't look too bad

usually people tune cars based on knock. when it knocks, they retard ignition timing. in dyno is easy to get MBT. I tune old nissan engines. some of them can get +6+10 ignition timing without knock. even if some people retard ignition timing theyre over MBT and engine loses power.

only ignorant people that shouldn't be tuning crank up timing til an engine knocks, most modern engines are efficient enough with fast burn combustion chambers that can tolerate extremely over-advanced ignition timing before knocking audibly but will loose power well before that

how much total timing on the nissan engine and which engine?

by definition if you are over MBT and reduce timing you will gain power, if not your not over MBT, MBT is maximum brake torque thus the spark advance that gives you the most power, impossible to gain power past that if you loose power beyond that ??

yeah, i tune nissans sr20de and ka20de in some variants (na, turbo.). in the past i was using virtual dyno to plot a virtual dyno to get "mbt" using graph rpm vs time. it was very good. i dont say i like to hit knock but i know some engines can tolerate more ignition timing (more than mbt) without knocking and all of them loses power because that.

"can tolerate" didnt mean its good. oem bin have 1 table with 26° max and other table if i remember 20° max. in your guide you say 24° max ignition timing.

right now, theres a popular nissan engine called sr20VE. its something like a honda vtec head . i get 32° at 5000 rpms and rise ignition timing to 38° at end of 7800 rpm. some people new to tuning bump ignition timing to 45°.

this same engine with a popular oem nissan cams called n1 like less ignition timing. 32 at 5000 to 34-35 at end of 7800.
