Flexplate and torque converter questions. (Budget set up)

Unread postby Thicklovin » Tue Nov 07, 2017 7:51 pm

When it comes to autos I'm learning. I'm currently doing a 4r70w in my turbo fox. Just blew 3rd gear in the t5 and don't want to go to manual for now. So I'm dipping my toes into the auto world. Why not? Right.

I want to go with the high stall converter from a Mach 1.

Anybody have part numbers to whitch flywheel to get. Searched and haven't really seen anything.

I've heard about transtar having the converter but don't have a dealer where I'm at. Order online?

Any inputs would be appreciated!

i dont know if thats the correct converter or not, F63 is the part number im used to which is a transtar and dacco part number iirc

i pulled up a 98 mark 8 on that website and it showed the same converter so thats reassuring

i dont think that flexplate will fit, it looks to be shoulder right where the converter will bolt up, prob need to check prw for the correct flexplate as they are the ONLY manufacturers of the correct flexplate for cobras/mach1s/mark 8s/5.4s

Called prw and he recommended this one. According to the man. He said that this one should work. Thoughts?

there we go that looks more like it

you'll have to massage the holes a little bit with a drill, trust me its no big deal

i met one of the engineers at PRW last year and told him the 10.5" spacing was for a chevy and that the 10.625 spacing is needed for fords. He said he was going to make sure they revised their new flexplates. I'll be sure to let him know again when I see him in a few weeks.

Now I'm wondering if I should go with a f63 converter. From the research seams to be a little bit better.

that marauder converter should be an f63 converter, all the 4v engines comes with the higher stall f63 converter since they rev to higher rpms henry uses the smaller diameter converter on them and being a 4v they make no low end torque so they need all the stall they can get
