Does anyone have any info regarding tuning a 2003-ish Jag X/S-Type V6? I imagine it has a lot in common with the LS V6. PowerPC or PCM150 based I'm guessing.

My real goal is to find a tunable ECU that can drive coil on plug, and VVT on the AJ-30 version of the Duratec 3.0L. any suggestions? I'm turning a blind eye toward megasquirt for now.

you can use an 03-04 escape ecu, that had the 3.0 duratec stock and coil on plug

otherwise, you can retune your current ecu with SCT

The problem with the jag ecu is that they fail all the time and are expensive to replace

Does your s type have a 5spd?

i just realized you mentioned controlling VVT

your only option will be a CAN ecu, nothing wrong with the stocker but AFAIK sct is the only ones whom have support for it

may try contacting sniper but im not certain if they support it

Yup 5spd. Thanks for the info. That's what I was afraid of.

You got me thinking now... On a slightly different topic...
Is it possible to take an ECU from an escape, only having an auto trans, and use it in a car with a 5spd? I'm curious about my contours that have the 3.0L Duratec (EEC-V). They have 5spd's but only have 3 coil drivers. I'd love to have a proper COP setup on those guys... My Contour ECUs have several of the parameters for the auto trans already populated, despite being a 5spd. Is it possible that I can tune an escape ECU with BE for a 5spd?

yea piss on that idea then

maybe you can search to see if any eec5s had vvt control

the eec5s do not have those issues with cop drivers melting
