Yes, there is, the calculated load is halved.

Binary Point Scaling / MAF Doubler

Unread postby decipha » Fri Jan 29, 2016 7:27 am

no, it stays the same

derek, check out 0x9e72 and 0x435c, doubling the multiplier doubles the airmass and gives you twice the maf range

I just cross calculated and HEX 4444==17476, 8888=34952
Thats the same as the bp method malcom mentioned above except theres 2 addresses instead of one

It works perfectly fine, Ive been using it for years

Changing that multiplier does not affect the maximum value of the air mass parameter. The "am" parameter is word sized and binary point scaled by 10 which gives the limitation of just under 64 lb/min.

It changes the conversion doubling it, the divisor goes from /1024 to /512

No, it doesn't, follow the code. Datalogging both "maf" and "am" with and without the changing that multiplier will help you see what happens.

i played around with it on my way home from work, the AM and MAF didnt change when I went from a non doubled tune to a doubled tune it stayed the same at 1.0, i then multiplied the fueling by 3 which wasnt enough so did so at 5.4 to get it up over the 64 lb clip

my raggedy ass truck could barely reach 64 but i did tickle it, AM clipped but MAF kept exceeding and the truck never leaned out

I can post the bins and logs in the morn if you want to check it out

No need to post anything, you've shown that the "am" value is still limited to just under 64 lb/min and thereby proved that changing that FN036M multiplier does not affect the maximum value of the air mass parameter.

Changing the scaling of the FN036M output and the FN036M multiplier alters the limitations of the MAF Transfer function.

This doesn’t feel like the right place to ask this question, but after some searching for “MAF doubler”, I found this post. So, I’ll start here. I’m tuning an ’03 Cobra and using the Adam’s strategy, which has a MAF doubler option. The car has a SCT BA3000 meter and a 2.3 Whipple charger, and previously dyno’d 650 rwhp. I was able to read out the tune in the car and the doubler function was already turned on.

My question is, what does this do to load? I datalogged a couple WOT pulls and only saw 165% load and 1450 kg/hr. So, with the doubler, that’s 2900 kg/hr? Air flow seems ridiculously high, and load seems low (this car makes 18 psi). I see no scaling in the tune. Displacement is correct, injector values are correct. I’m a bit confused, and this doubler function is new to me, so that doesn’t help.

Thanks,
Rich
