Mike, what is the status of the REAC4 definition? How does READ0 work with a REAC4 calibration?

reac4 is unchanged I hadn't done anything with it in years.

you cant swap cals and strats. You have to use the cal for the strat. Simply use an READ0 cal if you want to use an READ0 strategy or use the REAC4 strat if you want to use an REAC4 cal.

I'm totally unfamiliar with the READ0 strategy. Is this the last update from Ford for the 2nd gen Explorer/Mountaineer?

Your link to download it does not provide a READ0 definition, only the ancient REAC4 def that is incomplete. I'm aware that there are tools to update the underlying strategy on the ECM via the OBD port, so assuming you can take an ECM that is originally REAC4 and update it to READ0, potentially.

Correct its the newest strategy for the them.

I wont be releasing an READ0 def til a premium member needs it. Thats how all my defs come to be. I make them when someone needs them and then post them freely to use.

The strategy doesnt matter on any ecu just the hardware code. Thats what the search box is for on the downloads page on the homepage. Many eec-v's are the same class and can be swapped.

BTW, I'm running what was originally an EQE3/REAC4 box with FLN0/READ0. Ford IDS pulled down that calibration when tying it down to the modules in my truck.

what i was getting at there is that no disassembly or changing of cam type required simply write the 98 cal to the 99-01 ecu if you have a hall effect cam sensor instead of vr

i use read0 on all of them
Hey Decipha, my EQE3 pcm took a dump on me and I’ve only been able to find one from a 1998 v8 explorer to replace it. The major difference is the cam sensor. 1998 uses a 3 wire sensor and 2000 uses a 2 wire sensor. Is there a way to switch that in the calibration or a way to put the EQE3 firmware into the 1998 pcm? Thanks. I don’t think I’m far enough along in my disassembly to make a good definition file yet so I don’t have anything to look at. I appreciate the help. Just need to get it up and running again. Thanks again.
