My basically stock 351w has a single ping/detonation only at start up, just as it fires cold or hot.

Timing is at 10*
This one has stumped me.
Only real difference is the outside temperature hovers +-5* at 32F

Anything in the tune to look for?

That's typical on high mileage engines. I command 4 degrees of spark on startup to prevent just that.
