Re: Ultra rich as engine decels
yeah you cant do it while stationary you need to actually drive it and load the engine just as you would to dial in the maf or anything fuel related for that matter
i find its easiest to put her in a high gear so you can control it easier and not have rpms become a factor

Re: Ultra rich as engine decels
That is exactly where my thinking was going too. Ill get it out this weekend and at least try to get the hot areas fully dialed in. The cold areas are really giving me hell. At and after tip in, I dont really get a rich swing but after tip out I get a serious lean swing. Im going to try and pull more fuel in those areas. The last adjustment helped a little so im hoping this next round will get it closer.

Re: Ultra rich as engine decels
I think ive been looking at this wrong. Ive been more looking at what is happening when I am shifting and I think I need to shift my process to what I feel will probably give me better results which is being at a steady state, stabbing the throttle and making adjustments based on the load and AFR which is more like what you described above.
So lets say I'm cruising in 4th gear at 10-15% load at 210 degrees. I stab the throttle, I see the load jump to 60% and the load stays there for a few seconds. The wideband shows 12% rich (.88 lambda) after about 1 second stays there for a second or 2 and then tapers off. I would multiply the 60% load area (and above) by the .88 lambda. Can I interpolate the rows below? it seems it would be very hard to hit every load reliable. The interpolation example is below. Thoughts on this whole process?
@210 degrees
200 x.88
60 x.88
50 x.90
40 x.92
30 x.94
20 x.96
10 x.98
05 x.99

Re: Ultra rich as engine decels
Can someone take a look and see if they can determine why its lean after shifts? Can I please get clarification on how to dial in 1052, and can i get an answer about interpolating the cells in 1321 that I mentioned in earlier posts?

Re: Ultra rich as engine decels
Could ITHBMA set to 0 be the cause of this? I keep reading posts talking about dialing in throttle body air mass and I know I havent dialed that in. Based on the idle write up, I dont think I need to mess with it.

Re: Ultra rich as engine decels
I looked at the datalog last night really close on the .25 playback speed and I believe the issue may be with the decel time constant. It takes about 1 second from the time the throttle is closed to the time I start getting the ultra lean condition. I reduced my decel time constant to 1 second in those areas. I have yet to drive it with the changes. I should know more tonight.

Re: Ultra rich as engine decels
Went out and drove it today and it still hits 1.5 lambda on decels between shifts when cold. I went as far as set the decel time constant to .1 and it still hit 1.5 when cold. Is this a case of it going into closed loop too soon maybe?

Re: Ultra rich as engine decels
The datalog clearly shows the injectors are shutting off at decel. With the .1 decel time, I can see the injectors go to 0 pulsewidth for about the same time the decel time is set to. My datalog captures 7 cycles per second and its 2 cycle difference from 0pw back to seeing pulsewidth and about 4-5 cycles before the pulsewidth is above the ford recommended minpw. I just checked my tune and I can see that the MinPW is set to .099 which is way lower than the ford spread sheet of .599. I changed it to .599 but it changes to .401 after its saves so I guess Ill see what happens with that. I attached a couple screen shots showing the dashboard. I also don't understand how the pulsewidth drops below the min pw setting. I get 0.00 with a min pw of .099 so i don't feel like it's the problem and something else is shutting them off.
