Startup enrichment

Unread post by dleach1407 »

I brought this up before but never made much headway on this. I have 0'd out my startup enrichment after 15 seconds above 60 degrees and my car still idles at 12.5:1 at startup and progressively moves to stoich as it warms up. As soon as it hits closed loop it fluctuates between low 14s and low 16s as expected. LTFT is a little off at 1.03 to 1.05 at warm idle but its hard to dial in the idle. My o2 cools off when idling so its not really stable. Ive got it set to kick into open loop after idling for 30 seconds but it still fluctuates. During initial start, Ive watched Lambse and I can see it command a rich mixture for the first 15 seconds then lambse goes to 1.000 and doesnt move until the car hits closed loop. AFAIK, I dont have any ect multipliers enabled. When i start it tomorrow im going to log the maf range while idling cold and then again warm incase its a different range but my fuel error is within a few percent of perfect in the cruise range. Any idea what i could check? Another thing ive noticed. My k constant is 33.191, not 30, my cubic inches is 1127.53. Did I mess something up? When i started tuning my car, the K constant being set to 30 wasnt a thing in CBAZA yet so i dont know how it changed. Ive honestly thought about just transfering my timing table over to a new tune and start with a fresh tune. Ive got a lot of weird issues I just cant seem to solve no matter what I do.

Open the injector 80lb patch and click apply. Then simply multiply your maf by 0.9 (30/33.191) and done. Takes all of 2 seconds.

Its common for engines to run rich when cold thats not uncommon at all. In fact you'll see in some stock tunes the base fuel is commanded leaner at that 90 degree range.

Open the base fuel table fn1362 and command 1.08 lambda at .15 and .3 perload at 90 degrees. Then dial it in.

I was so hyperfocused on startup enrichment that I didnt even think of changing the commanded fuel in open loop down low. What a bone head move. That absolutely worked. Ill probably need to dial it in just a little bit but it was mid 14s right from the get go. What a huge difference. No more stinking garage at startup.

Before i removed startup enrichment it was in the mid to high 11s at startup.
