06 Mustang with 93 Lincoln Engine/Trans/ECU

Hi everyone,
I’m up in Canada and I have done a 1993 Mark Viii engine and transmission
swap into a 2006 Mustang (originally v6 manual)
All went well physically to do the swap and I also have put in a 8.8 track lok
and an aluminum Drive Shaft.
My problem is wiring. I kept the donor PCM and harness and of course
I have the Mustang PCM and harness also,
I just need some assistance on how to wire this up.
Please if you could help, it would be appreciated.
Up here in Canada there isn’t much help in this area of expertise.

thats simple enough. The engine should run fine now as and just your gauge cluster doesn't work.

You will need to either get a mechanical gauge setup or upgrade your ecu to an eec-v or powerpc ecu.

The eec-v will be the cheapest and most supported but may not work with the stock 06 cluster.

A 2006-2011 crown victoria ecu can be reprogrammed for your engine no problem but will cost a few bucks more.

Its all up to you.

That Great, Thank-you for your help!
But I still don’t know what to do now with the wiring.
I can use my donor PCM and the donor harness,
but what do I splice into?
What do I do with the Mustang PCM and the Mustang Harness?

Simply clean up the harness so it has an ignition, crank, battery power and ground.

wire it up to the ignition switch and toss out the original pcm and engine harness.

Just go wire by wire, its very simple just time consuming ~160 hrs if u want to do it right.

Ok,
I will do it right, for sure, but
160 hours of wiring?
Mechanical Gauges is ok but
Is there a way to convert the analog
Speed signal to digital with what I got
So I could possibly still use my cluster?
And one other question how about the
accelerator Pedal Mustang is electronic
But my engine has a cable setup, any thoughts?

One more question....
Even if it cost me more,
Would all of my problems go away with a
Reprogrammed ecu from an 2006-2011 Crown Vic?
(Problems meaning cluster and accelerator and PATS
Issues?

Hey Pat, Lance here.

The Drive By Wire would need to be cable converted for the MK8 setup. Your 06 Mustang ECU is for a 6 cylinder, so manipulating a cable is required.

Keep in mind If you update the ECU to EECV, you will need to address the TCC and shift solenoids in the trans as the resistance is different in the 97½-up vs the 93-95 MK8 4R70W, and by not changing those out, you could draw too much from the EECV.

PPC allows DBW but again, is not J3 compatible. Not too big a deal tho as you can opt-in for a flash over OBD2 device as covered in the Getting Started page on the site. http://www.efidynotuning.com/started.htm

I'm sure Mike can chime in better about that tho.

Good news is, the newer Strategy EECV ECU he is referring to is compatible with the TPRT and Jaybird setup you got from me. Plus, the OBD2 flash device from PCM Flash is compatible with the PPC, however I do not have a XDF for the PPC. Only 93-98 MK8 and 96-97 most Ford cars

there is a chance of cluster working with the 03/04 ecu I've heard of some people having it work and others not

you can simply toss in an earlier mustang pedal assembly and cable if you wanted to stay cable control

the 06-11 cv ecu will have the cluster and etc, you will have to swap the throttle body from the 6 on to your engine though no biggie, you will need an 06-11 cv wiring harness with trans harness too and you will still have to go through and clean up the harnesses

all shift solenoids are the same from 1993-2011 so no worries there but the eec-iv used a 1 ohm tcc solenoid where as the eec-v and powerpc uses a 10 ohm tcc solenoid so you will have to swap out the tcc solenoid with a 10 ohm one. The MLPS went from analog to digital in 98 so you will need a newer MLPS as well. You can snatch both of those from the car you snatch the harness out of.

yep you can either go with a mongoose cable if you plan on making changes and being able to tune it yourself or make adjustments. Otherwise if you wanted to go the cheaper route you can get an xcal and we can do it over the internet.

Hi Michael, I’ve heard a lot of good things about you.
The reason I asked the question is I’d like to finish the
car and make it look completely stock, since it’s so unique.
I haven’t really seen or heard anyone doing what I’m doing.
I think it will be a nice piece once I’m done.
So everything you stated about the CV I could get up here
from 2006-2010 P71’s, is there anything else I’ll need from CV?

Ok, I’ve looked into what I could use.
Can I run the 2009 CV pcm and harness without
the drive by wire and delete it, Or must I convert?
If I must convert, I found a 2005 Ford v10 throttle body
That looks like it would work with an adapter plate.
As for the coil over plugs, can I use 5.4l Navigator?
Any thoughts?

yep dont need etc but you wont have an iac either so will have to keep a high idle for dashpot purposes which isnt ideal

best to get the etc working

Ok,
I can go the route your suggesting, no problem.
I found all the CV parts from an 2009
The TB from From F250 V10,
Spacer plate and COP from Summit
But what the heck am I going to do about the
IAC valve?
Is it possible to put it somewhere else so I can use it?

the etc ecus do not have iac hardware since they are etc

I have found that the IAC can be relocated
with an adapter, so I can make one easy
enough, or I can buy one also.

Hi Mike,
I have an SCT x4 for re-flashing. Is it sufficient?
I looked at mongoose, but it’s up there in price.
Don’t know if it’s really any better. You’re thoughts?
I got the COP’s and I had to buy newer style 99’
valve covers for the 4.6l DOHC, So everything fits properly.
Do you know of a TB adapter plate that I could buy or would
I have to have it made, need to go from 56mm to a 60mm.

What do I do with the IAC on the intake, do I just plug it off?
