jumping into TC's now

Unread postby YaBoyHalle » Tue Jul 14, 2015 3:24 pm

i swear i don't have commitment problems lol. i found a cheap 86 TC roller in pretty clean condition, and an engine and t5 nearby too. 700 for all of it, which is not that bad.

what's some things i can do with it and this tuner of mine? i know there's a maf hack, but is that even stable? and can i use my explorer eec on it to achieve edis? i remember something about the cam sensor reading differently than a 5.0's but it think edis and maf would be a huge improvement in drivability.

also, any quick tips on these cars? i'm told the knock sensor should and shouldn't be disconnected, and one should port everything.

moar boost!!! but otherwise just toss it together and get it going first

best bet would be to just swap the ecu, the explorer ecu isnt a 4cyl, youll want a 4 cylinder strat

always! an intercooler will be a priority, and then a boost valve.

isn't gufb able to control some odd custom engine setup's, 300L's and such? i've just seen that the stock computers have a stable SD hack now, using GM 3bar MAP and IAT, so that'd be cool. anything to get rid of the vam! but as far as edis goes, i suppose it's an afterthought but now i have these coilpacks...

well the lincoln's gone :( as soon as the heads were fixed i went back to the car, and saw it had been real messed up in a hit and run. Just my luck, right?

anyways, i sold all the upgrades to go turbo this time. I've been talking to an svo owner whos got an 84 with a bigger (slightly) turbo, big IC, ported everything, big exhaust, even has it tuned with a QH.

so i'm thinking since i still have that explorer harness, computer, and some 42ib injectors, i might as well, right? i can make a quick 36-1 crank trigger, and cut up the harness and what not. can i change enough parameters to run a 4cyl on this eec? or is there a better computer for a turbo 4?

yes eec-iv can control 4 cyl, 6 cyl, and 8 cyl engines

edis is a significant improvement in reliability, control, function, and output as compared to a TFI/DIS ignition

hit and run sucks, my brother lost his first convertible that way, some bastard hit it in the middle of the night and kept on trucking

you'd have to ask sailorbob about the 4 cyl control, assuming you have his strategy for the explorer ecu?

after finding a guy who did the same thing on his svo swapped car, it looks like mark8 CDAN4 eec's have COP right off the back. Cool.

the only questions i have left are- what wires will i leave in, like which injectors, 1-4 or is it 1,3,5,7 etc.. and do i need a cam sensor for start up if it's not a v8?

cdan4s do not have cop, mark 8s are cmba0 and cmai9 strats not cdan4

Im not 100% positive what the 96 mark 8s use as ive never seen one before only 93-95 which are czajl and 97-98 which are the aforementioned strats

yes youd need a cam sensor for any edis setup

I do not know of any factory CoP 4 cylinder eec-Vs

your options are:

99-04 mustang / crown vic / grand marquis / maurauder / town car
or 99-03 f150

all of those ecus are interchangeable

no telling if it will work for a 4 cyl but if your willing ill setup the tune and you can try it out, Ive tried it once and it didnt work correctly, it ran but not great, she would cut out coils when you hooked up the other
