E4OD torque converter lockup datalogging

Unread postby wwhite » Tue Jun 11, 2019 11:05 pm

I've rebuilt my 1994 E4OD, had the torque converter rebuilt, only have about 100kms on it now.
Shifting feels OK, but I am unsure about when or if the torque converter is locking when it should.

I am very new to tuning, have quarter horse installed, data logging is working, using C3P2 stock bin, with EFI-SD4x definition.

Question is, is there a variable that shows the torque converter state as locked or unlocked while data logging?

Also, what sort of driving test can I do, to make sure trans is working as it should, without burning up the clutches if something is wrong.

I rebuilt the trans myself.
I am not sure when the E4OD TC should be locking or unlocking.
When I first drove the truck, within 20km of the rebuild, the TC felt like it was locking in second and third.
Now, with over 200kms, it only feels like it locks in third and OD.

So, I'm not sure if what I originally was feeling was just short shifts between 1, 2 and third, and not the TC locking in 2(if that makes any sense).

I've read lots of related posts of different views on when TC is locking/unlocking, mainly on Diesel engines.
Also read lots of posts about TC not locking and burning up clutches.

If the TC is not locking in second, should it be?
This is what I'm not sure of, is what and when, what gear, etc. should the TC be locked and/or unlocked?

locking in 2nd is purely up to you it won't hurt anything, some people like the converter to lock in 2nd some don't

you can simply look at the tcc lock and tcc unlock functions to see when it should lock and unlock
