Re: ECU Tools security dongle
I can't really speak for other devices, but for my MDI2, I had to have the GM MDI Manager installed, and in PCMFlash, select the 'J2534: Bosch - MDI 2' device, then when you click 'read' or 'write', it brings up the Device Explorer where you can select the device. In my screen clip, I didn't have the MDI2 connected, but Device Manager still remembered it, which is why it shows it but it has the 'X' through it.

Re: ECU Tools security dongle
If it's a J2534 spec device, it SHOULD work... I'm using a GM MDI2 with PCMFlash to read and flash the Ford EEC-V's.

Re: ECU Tools PCMflash unavailable
Where were you trying to order from? I ordered mine last year from ecutools.eu, which I believe shipped from Estonia.

Stock PTP2 FBGI0?
Figured 'd post this here rather than in the MZAK0 thread - since the VMA2 tune is a bone stock 'port' of the Ford MAAG4 6.8 calibration, is there any chance of getting a stock port of the FBFG2:PTP2 calibration over to FBGI0? We tried 'something' a bit back, but I could never get the file(s) you sent over to run the car right - drop the stock PTP2 calibration back in and it was fine every time, so I'm 'guessing' you added the auto trans code to the MGZT calibration, but other things in the MGZT tune still needed to be adjusted. I'd like to get over to your FBGI0 strategy, in part because I found that one does something right to control the fuel pump properly, whereas not a single FBFG2 strategy I've tried can get it quite right, and because it's the strategy under development moving forward (which makes total sense - why maintain 6, 8, 10, whatever strategies when you have a single one that can replace them all?).
I do plan on eventually upgrading to premium and making use of your tuning services, but not as the car sits now - I have a DOHC 4.6 on a stand that destined for this car that's been held up mainly by fuel and exhaust - I think I found an answer to the exhaust (the MN12's are hard to find good headers for), but I need to find fuel rails that'll bolt on to a 03/04 Mach1 intake, have the FRPS sensor port (in or near the stock location) and can be set up as return style with a regulator that can be connected to the stock fuel lines. Everything I've found in terms of fuel rails for a Mach 1 intake seem to be returnless only. Once that engine is in and running on a base SYM2 or better yet FBGI0 version of that (I had to make a lot of wiring changes to the harness so it would just attach to the existing body harness, so there might be things I have to fix), I'll want to get it tuned properly. But there's no point in putting a whole lot of effort and money into tuning the SOHC motor.

Re: MZAK0 Question
Wait, sorry, I just realized that I totally mis-understood.
I just realized that the VMA2 is your file for the MZAK0 definition.
Is that a 1:1 MAAG4:MZAK0 that can be dropped straight in and run exactly the same as the originally read calibration without tweaks to get it to run right?

Utility to convert different BIN formats
If this is out of line, I apologize in advance and please delete it and let me know.
Full disclaimer, I have no relationship whatsoever with this tool or its author, it's something I found, felt was really useful and purchased myself.
I found the tool here that was written to convert Ford BINs between the various formats that exist. As mentioned, I purchased it and it's FAR easier to convert between formats using it than using a hex editor. If I had the smarts to write such a program, I would have done so, but I don't. Figured I'd share it here in case anyone else would find it useful.

MZAK0 Question
Is this another custom strategy like the FBGI0 strategy, that can be used on all PCMs used on 99-04 F-250's, but with an appropriate base file (I'm assuming that's the case, but I've been wrong before)? The reason I ask is I just read my friends 99 F250 SuperDuty v10's PCM with PCMFlash, and it turns out the strategy of the read file is MAAG4, which obviously, when opened with TunerPro, things didn't line up.

Re: MPC-15B Alternative
Thanks - I'll have to keep my eyes peeled, but I have a suspicion that they'll be unobtanium, so I'll probably just have to be happy with what I have and fix/replace the aftermarket tach driver that's acting up.
